Solomon Airlines has announced a new international and domestic schedule planned to make visiting and exploring Solomon Islands easier for inbound international visitors, and movement between the provinces convenient for local residents.
During the period from 26 March to 28 October 2023, the national carrier has adjusted its popular Monday flight from Brisbane to Honiara to a later departure of 9.30am to enable better connections from international flights from New Zealand.
Solomon Airlines also confirmed it would soon provide an update on its Tuesday/Wednesday fights to and from Tarawa which currently remained suspended.
Across the airline’s domestic network, Solomon Airlines has made adjustments to meet recovering demand, increasing passenger capacity to some destinations including Bellona, Kirakira and Suavanao.
The daily services between Honiara and Gizo/Munda scheduled during the peak December/January period will also resume from this period.
Solomon Airlines CEO Mr Gus Kraus said that the airline has tailored the schedule to meet current demand and is ready to add supplementary capacity when the need arises.
“Decisions about where and how frequently to operate are based on patterns of demand and we continue to monitor our operations throughout the year,” he said.
The schedule update follows the successful annual Tourism in Focus conference held yesterday, 9 February, which officially launched a renewed focus and strategy to increase tourist visitation, in partnership with the Solomon Islands Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Tourism Solomons.
