Honiara, Solomon Islands - Solomon Airlines advised today its Dash 8 aircraft is expected to return to full service on 23 April 2016.
Announcing the news, Solomon Airlines’ General Manager Operations & Commercial, Gus Kraus said it was anticipated the Dash 8, currently undergoing scheduled maintenance in Cairns, Queensland, would return to Honiara on 22 April.
After final checks by senior engineering crew, the aircraft will return to full operation on the airline’s domestic network the following day (23 April).
Mr Kraus said the maintenance program had provided a great opportunity to change all existing seat covers and passenger cabin carpet.
The aircraft has also undergone a make-over of internal and external repaint, he said.
Mr Kraus took the opportunity to again reiterate that the Dash 8 scheduled service was part of Solomon Airlines’ stringent safety culture.
“We again apologise to all our valued customers for any impact this situation may have caused but we do need to remind everyone these maintenance activities are an obligation and one that we readily undertake with the safety of each and every one of our passengers and crew in mind,” Mr Kraus said.
