Solomon Airlines prepares to operate New Zealand repatriation flights

  • Repatriation flights ex Brisbane-Honiara-Auckland announced

Solomon Airlines are planning to operate to Auckland International Airport for the first time in almost 30 years on Thursday 23 July with the Solomon Islands national carrier proposing to operate Honiara–Auckland-Honiara as part of their latest repatriation flight schedule.

Subject to regulatory approval by the Solomon Islands, New Zealand, and Australian Governments, the airline plans to operate four repatriation flights between 21 and 24 July, 2020.

On Tuesday 21 July, Solomon Airlines flight IE690 is scheduled to depart Brisbane at 3.00pm, arriving in Honiara at 7.15pm.

On Thursday 23 July, Solomon Airlines flight IE691 will depart Honiara at 8.00am landing in Auckland at 1.15pm. The aircraft will re-depart an hour later as flight IE692 at 2.15pm, landing in Honiara at 5.50pm.

The following day, on Friday 24 July, flight IE693 will depart Honiara back to Brisbane, leaving at 11.15am and arriving in Brisbane at 1.30pm.

The repatriation flights are open to Solomon Islands citizens residing overseas, and foreign nationals who have Prime Minister’s Office approval wishing to return to the Solomon Islands, in addition to those foreign nationals who wish to depart the Solomon Islands to return to their home country, and who have the relevant approvals to transit Australia or New Zealand.

All passengers entering the Solomon Islands will be required to quarantine for at least 14 days in Solomon Islands Government approved accommodation. All foreign nationals on board will be entering Solomon Islands Government approved quarantine accommodation at their own expense.

Solomon Airlines advises that all flights will comply with the COVID-19 regulations and requirements of the relevant countries. Solomon Airlines crew wear facemasks and gloves for the duration of service and catering will be minimal in order to reduce contact between passengers and crew. Solomon Airlines Airbus A320 aircraft offers both Business and Economy Class seating.
