Due to continuing inclement weather over the past few weeks, the delivery of fuel shipments to Santa Cruz has been unavoidably delayed impacting flight operations to Santa Cruz.
As a result, Solomon Airlines has been forced to suspend all Santa Cruz flights, effective from tomorrow Saturday 18th December until further notice.
“Delivery of fuel by ship from Honiara has been unavoidably delayed as a result of the weather conditions, we are doing all we can to make this delivery happen and request patience from our affected passengers as this is a situation that is outside the airline’s control. We are continually monitoring the situation and once an estimated arrival date for the ship is confirmed, we will plan to restart flights as soon as possible, “ said Colin Sigimanu, Manager Commercial for Solomon Airlines.
“If shipment becomes possible this weekend, we estimate having fuel available in Santa Cruz at the earliest later next week, and will look to recommence our regular schedule,” he said.
“In the meantime we will operate to the extent that we are able, to ensure passengers affected by the initial fuel shortages on our flight to Santa Cruz via Lomlom are able to travel accordingly,” he said.
Solomon Airlines has advised the following flight changes to this week’s schedule:
•Tomorrow (Saturday) Solomon Airlines will operate recovery services as a result of the weather disruptions to Gizo, Arona, Kirakira, Choiseul Bay, Munda, Fera, Rennell and Bellona.
