Solomon Airlines adjusts Rennell and Bellona schedule

Solomon Airlines has announced a new domestic schedule including planned amendments to Rennell and Bellona services to make travelling easier for local residents, and movement between the provinces convenient for those with weekend religious commitments.

Effective from 23 April through to 31 May 2023, the national carrier will adjust its weekend flights from Honiara to Rennell and Bellona to operate on Wednesdays to enable better service to local communities while keeping Saturdays and Sundays free for those with religious commitments.

Existing Tuesday and Thursday services to Rennell and Bellona will operate as previously scheduled. 

Solomon Airlines CEO Mr Gus Kraus said the airline has tailored the schedule to meet local community requirements and current demand.

“Decisions about where and how frequently we operate our aircraft are based on changing patterns of demand,” Mr Kraus said.

“We continue to monitor our operations throughout the year and adjust or add extra capacity when the need arises,” he added.

From 26 April, Solomon Airlines flights to and from Rennell and Bellona will operate as follows:

Tuesday

• Flight IE320 departs Honiara 7.00am arriving Bellona 7.55am
• Flight IE320 departs Bellona 8.10am arriving Rennell 8.30am
• Flight IE321 departs Rennell 8.45am arriving Honiara 9.45am

Wednesday

• Flight IE320 departs Honiara 7.00am arriving Bellona 7.55am
• Flight IE320 departs Bellona 8.10am arriving Rennell 8.30am
• Flight IE321 departs Rennell 8.45am arriving Honiara 9.45am

Thursday

• Flight IE322 departs Honiara 7.00am arriving Rennell 8.00am
• Flight IE323 departs Rennell 8.15am arriving Bellona 8.35am
• Flight IE323 departs Bellona 8.50am arriving Honiara 9.45am
