Solomons Travel Authorisation is a positive step

Solomon Airlines has welcomed the commencement of the trial of the new Solomons Travel Authorisation (STA) for inbound visitors saying the initiative is a positive innovation.

“The introduction of the Solomons Travel Authorisation system is a progressive step, which will improve arrival procedures for inbound visitors to Solomon Islands and safeguard our community at the same time,” said Gus Kraus, CEO of Solomon Airlines.

“As we head into 2023, Solomon Islands has significant tourism opportunities ahead, especially including the Pacific Games which will bring thousands of people to our shores this time next year,” he said.

“It’s important that we continue to work closely with our government and tourism partners to ensure travelling to the Solomon Islands from international markets is as easy as possible and that at the same time we continue to apply appropriate screening procedures,” he said.

The Solomon Islands Government commenced roll out the new Solomon Islands Travel Authorisation, effective from today Monday 28th November, including the very first facial biometric Travel Authorisation (FTA) system in the Pacific Islands region.

The Solomons Travel Authorisation will combine biometric and biographic information into a single portal system.

Travellers can apply 3 days before their departing flight via the website https://solomons.govtas.com/ or the mobile app “Solomon Travel Authorisation” available on Apple and Google app stores.
