Solomon Airlines has announced a great opportunity for local travellers to experience flying on the airline’s largest Airbus A320 international aircraft. On Saturday flights only, from Munda to Honiara, the airline has released special fares priced at 50% off regular one-way airfare levels.

The 50% off fares are on sale from today 13 March until 13 December, 2024, for travel on Saturdays this year, starting from 16 March to 28 December, 2024.

Special conditions apply as follows:

  • Tickets must be purchased at least 7 days in advance of departure date
  • Seats are subject to availability offered on a space available basis
  • The fares are for Saturday flight IE715 only, operated by Solomon Airlines A320 international aircraft
  • Valid Photo ID is required at check-in to travel

Solomon Airlines CEO (Acting) Napoleon Padabela said he hoped the special fares may see hundreds of locals experience the national carrier’s Airbus A320 international aircraft this year.

“We are very proud of the flagship of our fleet, and we hope that many people from our local communities can take advantage of this opportunity throughout the year,” Mr Padabela said.

“This international aircraft flies from Brisbane direct to Munda and on its repositioning journey from Munda back to Honiara, we are able to offer these fares for limited seats every Saturday,” he said.

“It would be very nice to see people who may not fly internationally, to have the opportunity to experience the A320 and the comfort and service that Solomon Airlines offers our international visitors coming to Solomon Islands,” he added.

Solomon Islands International Tourism Initiative - Up to 25% Savings on Fares to Western Province

In a move to boost inbound tourism to the Western Province and beyond, Solomon Airlines has also announced new special tourism-focused airfares, offering up to 25% off regular airfares from Brisbane and other Australian gateways to Munda, or via Munda to Suavanao, Seghe or Gizo.

The fares are part of a broader campaign in partnership with Tourism Solomons to promote awareness of Solomon Airlines exclusive Brisbane to Munda direct route, and to encourage tourism to Solomons Islands via the Western Province gateway.

“As travel agents and travellers will see, we are offering an attractive incentive to enter the Solomon Islands via our Munda international gateway,” said Solomon Airlines CEO Napoleon Padabela.

“Effectively we are offering flights to some of our most popular leisure destinations - Munda Suavanao, Seghe or Gizo - for the price of a return flight to Honiara,” he said.

Solomon Airlines Special Fares for their Munda international route will be available year-round subject to availability, on international itineraries which include Flight IE715 Brisbane direct to Munda booked as part of the journey.

Solomon Airlines recommenced flights from Brisbane direct to Munda on 6th January, 2024, following an extensive upgrade of the Munda International Airport.

The route opens a second international gateway to Solomon Islands offering new opportunities for Solomon Islands tourism development to the Western Province.

Visitors from Australia, Europe, USA, Asia and other international markets can fly via Brisbane direct to Munda entering Solomon Islands and clearing customs at Munda International Airport before exploring popular Western Province tourism destinations.
