Florence Young ECE Centre Students Smiles Onboard Solomon Airlines to mark School Excursion

Posted on October 23, 2024 at 01:45 AM in General News

Excitement filled the air as 105 bright-eyed students from Florence Young Early Childhood Education (ECE) Centre, along with 10 dedicated teachers, embarked on a thrilling educational journey hosted by Solomon Airlines. The excursion offered students an inspiring glimpse into the dynamic world of aviation, igniting their curiosity and dreams of future careers in the industry.

The students were given a rare opportunity to explore both the international and domestic terminals at Honiara International Airport, witnessing firsthand the intricacies of airport operations. They observed key processes such as check-in, baggage handling, boarding, and security, gaining an understanding of how each step contributes to smooth airline operations. The experience sparked awe and excitement as the students learned how vital every role is in ensuring passengers have a safe and seamless journey.

The highlight of the day was a special tour aboard one of Solomon Airlines’ impressive Airbus aircraft, where students eagerly explored the cabin, peeked into the cockpit, and experienced the inflight environment. Solomon Airlines’ flight attendants demonstrated safety procedures, allowing the students to see how the airline ensures the well-being of its passengers.

“We are incredibly thankful to Solomon Airlines for this remarkable experience. Watching our students’ faces light up as they learned about aviation was heart warming. It’s an experience that has truly opened their eyes to the endless possibilities in the aviation industry. Many of our children are now dreaming big—some want to be pilots, others cabin crew, and some even engineers. This excursion has planted the seeds of ambition in their hearts,” said Beverly Kinifaasia, Supervisor at Florence Young ECE Centre.

During the tour, the students met with inspiring professionals from Solomon Airlines, including pilots, engineers, cabin crew, ground staff, and representatives from various departments. Each of them shared insights into their roles, showing the students that the aviation industry is full of exciting and diverse career paths. The interactions left many students motivated to one day join the industry themselves.

This excursion is part of Solomon Airlines’ commitment to nurturing the next generation by exposing young minds to the world of aviation and encouraging them to pursue their dreams. The airline aims to continue creating meaningful opportunities that inspire and empower the youth of the Solomon Islands.
